Our Monsoon Balcony is a short, atmospheric narrative game crafted with a RPG Maker MV engine and presented in monochrome pixel art.
You play as Arka, an office worker living through the rainy season, one quiet evening, a new encounter on the balcony changes everything. As daily routines unfold and the rain keeps falling, fragments of memory, emotion, and mystery begin to intertwine.
✦ History Behind the Game
Our Monsoon Balcony started as a deeply personal project by Rakoratsu. The game was born from reflections on routine, regret, and fleeting moments during the monsoon season in Southeast Asia, where rain becomes both a literal and metaphorical cycle of memory and healing.
At its heart, the story explores the feeling of being trapped in repetitive work, symbolized through “battles against errors,” while also finding solace in quiet encounters on a rainy balcony. The monochrome pixel-art style was chosen to emphasize simplicity, nostalgia, and atmosphere.
The project gained further momentum through RPG Maker 2025 Game Jam and emotionally loaded jam 🌼. Where Rakoratsu refined the game's narrative and mechanics under limited time constraints. Despite being developed within a short timeframe, the game received positive responses and sparked expectations among players for the continuation of Arka and Klara's story.
Looking ahead, Rakoratsu plans to expand the universe of Our Monsoon Balcony through a future sequel, exploring new characters, perspectives, and seasons continuing the emotional journey that began with Arka and Klara.
